The Hellenic Mountain Race is a fixed route, unsupported, single-stage cycling race through the mountains of Greece. The clock does not stop and there are no prizes. It follows a mix of gravel roads, stone pathways and tarmac. It will offer to those who take part another image of this country.
The route will travel far from the beaches and islands that most visitors are aware of. We will head to the north and west: to the steep, forested slopes of the Pindus Mountains. You will be surprised by how wild and remote this part of the world is. What you will recognize of Greece though, is the warmth of its people and the taste of the food. There is some hike a bike, and at times there is great distances between resupply points. We hope that the views and character of the special places that we want to share with you will make up for the effort it will take to get there.
The exact distance and elevation vary year to year but riders can expect approximately 900km in distance, 30,000m of climbing and 7 days to complete the route.
